You can definitely tell how much this mama likes her normal day schedule. When thrown off, due to rain, I have a hard time passing the time with my toddler. We couldn't go for a walk or even go down to visit with our neighbor friends which we do nearly every night we are home so what were we going to do before bedtime. MAKE COOKIES!!!
Bree loves to bake and got her very own Minnie Mouse chef hat and apron as a birthday present. She enjoyed wearing them both and helping her mama. She is such a big help in the kitchen! The finished product was very yummy.
Now on a serious note... As I watched her help and laugh and have fun cooking it was such a sweet surreal moment. I love to cook and take care of my family by providing in this very small manner. I love to bake and enjoy the precious time with Aubrey. I realized in these very small first moments I am helping to teach her an appreciation for this craft. She may not understand it now but it was a time she could see that it can be fun and not dreaded. In a world of fast food and little time to enjoy meals at home, it's something I want to treasure with her each moment we can. I know there will be those nights we will cram a quick dinner in before having to be somewhere, but for now, I love that tonight was a night I got to teach Aubrey a little bit about being a woman. To teach her a little bit about nurturing and taking care of a home needs. Sounds weird I know, but tonight I got a small glimpse of a very small part of passing on knowledge and skills to a new generation. It reminds me of a passage I just read the other day...
Psalm 145:4
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power.
Now David of course speaking of the Lord's wonderful acts and proclaiming these testimonies to future generations and there will certainly be a time and place for that with my daughter. Tonight I passed on something small...let a mother indulge herself. Enjoy the pictures!
